Growing up in a Chicago-area mixed-status family, Jaqueline developed the insight into deep listening and empathy of others around her. Her pet rooster “el Gallo” and her pet pigeon “la Paloma” continue to meet her at the tensions of culture, assimilation and self-consciousness. She is a rising senior at John Hancock College Prep and has attended majority minority schools throughout her educational career. She feels conflicted about assimilation and the erasure embedded within it.
In the future, Jaqueline hopes to be able to connect more to her own cultural roots, as well as connecting with others and their cultural roots.
She thrives in environments where she can participate, imagine, and engage on top of empathizing and listening to help others. She hopes to engage in the application of the healing centered approach as it applies to GB&C clients and potential clients.
